I started a weekly church service at an assisted living facility where my mom lived until she passed away.
Five months ago, I was sitting with my mom at the dinner table of her care home, when I noticed Jenny, a woman who had been like a mother to my mom at that facility. She was sitting all alone. I said, “Mom, I’m going to go talk to Jenny for a while.” I approached her table and said, “Jenny, how are you doing?” She said, “Oh, okay I guess.” I could tell she wasn’t the same happy Jenny I was used to seeing. Then the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask her, “Hey, Jenny, you have a relationship with Jesus, right?” Jenny replied, “Well, I don’t know, maybe I did many years ago, but I don’t know if I do now.”
I said, “Well, we can take care of that right now; how would you like to pray with me and commit your life to Jesus right now?” Jenny said “Ok, sure.” So, I led her in a prayer, right at the dinner table.
A week or two later, I was sitting at the dinner table with my mom, and I asked, “Hey, where is Jenny? I haven’t seen her in a few days.” Several people spoke up and said, “Jenny passed away last week.” The Holy Spirit knew that was coming, and had me there at the right time, to lead Jenny to Jesus right before she entered eternity!
